Floor System

Pressure Treated Lumber – The use of pressure treated lumber for the entire floor system including skids, floor joists, and decking, enables Us to extend a lifetime warranty against decay or termite damage on every building.

(Lifetime warranty.)

Notched Floor Skids

The 4x6 pressure treated floor skids are notched ! ” so that the floor joists can be recessed into the skid thereby providing strength and durability to allow for movement of the building without causing damage. (Ten and twelve foot wide buildings have 4 skids each / Eight foot wide buildings have 2 skids) (Lifetime warranty.)

Floor Decking

Pressure treated floor joists placed 16” on center are covered with LP Prostruct flooring - decking to provide the strength necessary to prevent the floor system from sagging under the weight of heavy items like lawn tractors and motorcycles, etc. Comes with a lifetime warranty.

Pulling Blocks

Pulling blocks are installed and holes are drilled at each end of the center most skids to help prevent damage if and when the building ever needs to be moved. (Lifetime warranty.)

Bridge Blocks

Bridge blocks are installed between the floor joists where the sheets of plywood floor decking meet to provide superior support. (Lifetime warranty.)

Sidewall Construction

Shallow Groove Siding – Shallow Groove Siding enhances the aesthetic value of the buildings without sacrificing the strength and integrity of the 19/32” LP Smartside. The use of shallow grooves significantly reduces the possibility of delamination of the siding and comes with a 50 year warranty.

Learn More

Double Studs

The 2x4 wall studs are placed 24” on center with Double Studs placed where the sheets of siding meet. This technique provides a larger nailing surface, which thereby prevents separation and gaps at the siding seams.

Learn More

Notched Wall Plates

The 2x8 top wall plates in barns and lofted barns are notched to allow for the siding to be placed into the framing rather that relying only on the nailing of the siding to the sidewall frame. This technique increases the strength and durability of the building as well as creating a better seal against the effects of weather. Utility style buildings have 2x4 top plate with a boxed Offset.

Learn More

Fasteners

Ring shank coated nails are used throughout sidewall construction to provide maximum holding strength against swelling and contracting of sidewall material caused by changes in the weather and humidity.

Shingled Roof System

Roof Decking – 7/16” oriented strand board (OSB) is used for roof decking because it is manufactured with heat resistant glues that prevent delamination and warping.

Gusseted Trusses – 2x4 trusses are placed 24” on center and gusseted to add strength to the roof system to keep it from sagging from the weight of snow and ice.

Drip Edge – Aluminum Drip Edge prevents water damage to roof decking from the siphoning of water along the edge of the shingles.

Vented Ridge

Venting the roof at its peak along the ridge provides superior ventilation. This technique helps prevent damage to shingles and your stored property

that may be caused by excessive heat.

Gusseted Trusses

2x4 trusses are placed 48” on center and gusseted to add strength to the roof system to keep it from sagging from the weight of snow and ice.

Radiant Barrier – A radiant barrier is installed in all of our metal roof buildings, which reflects up to 90% of radiant heat thereby protecting your stored materials from possible damage caused by heat or condensation.
